About the Artist

Meg Moody is a Colorado-based painter whose work draws inspiration from the natural world, fairy tales, folklore, and the rich visual traditions of historical painting.

Her paintings explore the relationship between realism and imagination. Working primarily in acrylics, she creates paintings that feel like artifacts from a world where magic is woven into the fabric of everyday life, and where each piece might seem at home within the walls of an enchanted castle. Her subjects include florals, animals, still life, and atmospheric landscapes, bringing a sense of romance and mystery to subjects both ordinary and extraordinary. Her work reflects an appreciation for Dutch Golden Age painting, the Baroque period, and romanticism, particularly their use of atmosphere to evoke drama, mystery and beauty. Throughout her work, se seeks to create a sense of wonder that invites viewers to linger and look a little closer.

Beyond painting, Meg is also a writer, mother, and lifelong lover of fairy tales, folklore, legends, mythology, and fantasy. These interests inform her creative perspective. Motherhood, in particular, has deepened her desire to pause and notice the beauty and enchantment all around, whether in nature or ordinary moments. It has also inspired her to reconnect with the wonder and magic of experiencing the world as a child, and to explore through her work the possibility that the world we inhabit might be more enchanted than we ordinarily perceive it to be.
